What you need to know as a Excelsior home and property owners:

The Basics

  • Residential Utilities - Set up services and billing preferences.  Click here to start utility service. 
  • Expectations for snow removal - Property owners  are responsible for the removal of snow and ice from driveways, steps, sidewalks and other walk ways on the property. City Code Sec 8-115  & Sec 16-40
  • Pets and animal regulations - All dogs six months or older are required to be licensed in the City of Excelsior. Apply for a Animal License.

  • Many projects require a building, mechanical  or plumbing permit. 
  • Landscaping and outdoor projects
    • Fence & Retaining Wall Permit
    • Roofing, Siding, Windows, Doors - Building Permit
    • Street Use Permit - Dumpsters & Storage Containers
    • Tree Removal - a  Tree Removal Permit is required for trees that are 8" DBH or more and will need the approval of the City Forester and independent forester. Trees that are not significant may be removed without a permit. Tree removal contractors must be licensed through the City of Excelsior. Click here for a list of licensed contractors. 

Parking

  • Parking permits - With a parking permit, residents are allowed to park in any Public Pay for Parking areas without having to use the meters or Pay for Parking App using your phone. Click here for more information.  Apply for a Parking Permit.
